Kids Horse Camps

Privateer Riding Academy horse camps are second to none. We take your child's safety and enjoyment very seriously and plan a curriculum full of so much fun, they'll barely notice how much they're actually learning!

WHAT MAKES OUR CAMPS UNIQUE

VARIETY OF FUN THEMES

Each day we will have a different fun theme with our riding, horse handling, and crafts all geared around that theme. This format allows us to accommodate a variety of ages and skill levels safely without anyone getting bored!

Here are just a few examples:

Horses in history

Kids will make their own shields and learn how medieval knights actually trained from an actual modern day jousting performer with the opportunity to try some of the historical exercises on horseback for themselves!

Art and Magic

Everyone will work together to build creativity by transforming their horses into unicorns, pegasus, and more! What kid has never dreamed of riding a unicorn?

Music

On this day we will be exploring a variety of ways to ride to music. Kids will play musical games on horseback that will help them improve their balance and skill in the saddle while they gain an unconscious understanding of how to move with the natural rhythm of the horse's steps... and be laughing the whole time!

SAFETY MINDED INSTRUCTORS

We only hire highly qualified adult instructors with a low child to instructor ratio so your special kiddo will be well supervised. We don't believe in saving money by having kids teaching other kids here. We want your family's safety to be in the hands of someone capable.

All of our instructors are Red Cross First Aid/CPR and SafeSport* certified.

We have the highest standards for safety equipment. We will help you to make sure your child has a helmet designed for horse sports that fits properly and is in good condition. If you don't have your own, well-maintained loaner helmets are available to you.

*The U.S. Center for SafeSport is an independent nonprofit committed to building a sport community where participants can work and learn together free of emotional, physical, and sexual abuse and misconduct.

GREAT HORSES

At Privateer Riding Academy, we have a small but elite group of top lesson horses. They are chosen for their good temperaments. It takes a very special horse to teach both beginner and higher level riders of all ages without becoming confused and frustrated or developing behavior problems.

It also takes careful attention and maintenance to keep those horses at the top of their came. We are careful to make sure that all of their health and happiness needs are met, are always treated fairly and humanely, have properly fitting equipment in good condition and get regular training tune-ups with our head trainer.

ACCOMMODATION

It is extremely important to us that everyone is made to feel welcome and have a good time. We also want to help parents fit horse camp into their busy lives.

Early drop of and late pickup options are available.

Lunch, snacks, and water bottles are provided and we are happy to work with any dietary restrictions or strong preferences if given adequate notice.

We have lesson horses in a variety of sizes which allows us to be body positive and fully inclusive of larger bodies. We are also LGBTQIA+ friendly and have a multi-cultural student body. Privateer Riding Academy is, and always will be, a safe space.
